Abstract:

This note serves to inform relevant people and institutions about my relations, over the last 30+ years, with China. I have visited China more than 50 times. I have lived five years (2.7.92-1.7.97) in China [Macau]. I have had several Chinese fellows in my univ. group. I have employed one Chinese Professor for three plus five years in my groups. As Scientific Director of DDC (Dansk Datamatik Center, 1979-1989) I have had two years of negotiations, and as UN Director, for the UN University Institute of Software technology, Macau SAR, China, I have had five years of regular negotiations -- with the highest officials in five different ministries. I regularly met (Education, Science & Technology and other) officials from the PRC Embassy in Denmark. Our daughter, Charlotte, is married with two children to Mr. Xu Wei.

This sale was basically instigated by NATO and transferred advanced software technology to the Chinese PLA (BISE) from DDC (Dansk Datamatik Center). I conducted the first negotiations, in August 1984, which lead to a major contract, Nov. 1986.
