11:30 am checked in at the
The Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers
20 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
at Jimmy's Kitchen, 29 Ashley Road, can always be recommended. After lunch I bought two detective novels at Swindon books.
at Chesa, The Peninsula Hotel, the Swiss restaurant: Raclette as usual with a glass of Swiss red wine from Sion.
Sent 78 postcards from the post office right next to the hotel, and ordered two long sleeved blue shirts from Lee Baron, also next to the hotel. Put on order, if Peter can find the right, striped fabrics, four "patchwork" shirts of the kind I first bought at Brook's Brothers in San Francisco 1964 and of which I have had many made to size at Lee Barron's.
at the Japanese Unagi at the hotel.
Late afternoon a cup hot chocolate in the Peninsula lobby after having bought, for the fourth time now, a chinese jade necklace for Kari - fine Mr. Shun Tak clearly remembered me and I got three cute and very nice smaller (also jade) necklaces: for Charlotte, Camilla and Caroline.
At the reception I met many colleagues. From Japan Profs. Tetsuo Tamai and Kokichi Futatsugi. From Singapore: Prof. David Rosenbloom. Etcetera.
It was nice and comforting to meet many colleagues from almost 30 years of more than 30 visits to the Far East, especially from the years at UNU-IIST and afterwards.
