- Dines stayed in a hotel apartment in 2kms walking distance from
the institute.
- In the first weekend, 6-8 March, Dines went to Luxembourg, by
return bus.
- Friday-Saturday 13-14, Dines went for a short weekend, by
train to the North Eastern French city of Metz.
- Reason for only one night in Metz was an invitation Saturday
evening to a most enjoyable dinner
at the family of Dines' host at
UoS: Prof. Wolfgang Paul.
- In the weekend of 20-22 March Dines went by return train to the
German city of Trier.
- The stay in Saarbrücken was quiet.
- Saarbrücken is not exactly a tourist spot.
- But some wines could be had
- The last weekend, 26-30 March, at Saarland started with a nice
visit to Nancy:
- by train,
- reunion with the very nice groups around Profs. Dominique
Méry and Stefan Mertz.
- a seminar,
- and high-speed train to Paris.
- Kari had flown in from Copenhagen the morning of Friday 27
March:
- checked in at our "favourite" hotel, La
Louisiane, 60 rue de Seine,

right in the middle of Quartier Latin;
- then gone to look at fabrics for her patchworks and quilts
at Marche
St. Pierre
at the foot of Montmartre (below the Sacre Coeur Basilica);
- then met me coming in on the train at Gare de l'Est at 17:45!
- Breakfast mostly at the bar diagonally across from the hotel:

at the corner of rue de Buci and rue de la
Seine
in the 6th district, is always lively and the perfect spot to watch a
market by day
or St. Germain fashionistas at

- But last morning at Cafe Les Deux
Magots
three small blocks away.
- During the weekend we had coffees at some of the other
famous
cafes.
- Lunches and dinners at some of the old Art Nouveaux-style
brasseries:
