Abstract | The present paper gives an introduction to a new approach to solve the problem of two elastic bodies in rolling contact. The techniques is based on half space theory for quasi identical bodies, which covers most of the technical applications of interest. The advantage of this new method is that it is very flexible and thus covers a broad spectra of different contact situations and furthermore is much faster than discretisation methods. |
