The Logarithmic Number System (LNS) allows the transformation of multiplications in additions and divisions in subtractions. Since multiplications are power-hungry and frequent in signal processing algorithm, using LNS will result in significant power savings.
The scope of this project is to explore efficient ways of implementing an LNS arithmetic unit and to evaluate its impact on the whole processor, intended for hearing aids.
