Bachelorprojekt - Softwareteknologi | Project No. 0163: App for versatile Point-of-Care in-vitro medical testing applications |
Aktuelle | Tidligere |
Recent advances in nanotechnology and microfluidics have become key-enablers to the advent of personalized medicine and so-called Point-of-Care (PoC) in-vitro medical testing. Integrated biosensing solutions and specifically Lab-on-Chip devices are designed to allow end-users to easily quantize relevant biological markers in no more than a drop of blood, to help them assess their health condition. On top of avoiding costly and time-consuming central laboratory testing, the PoC approach should open up a whole new range of applications working towards better health. The advent of smart mobile-devices has been identified as a great vector for such purposes.
The Nano-Bio Integrated Systems (NaBis) group, at DTU nanotech, is developing a silicon-nanowire bio-Field Effect Transistor sensor array showing great promise for achieving the sensitive detection of specific in-vitro biological markers at low concentration. These bioFETs arrays are currently being integrated within a small Lab-on-Chip device, embedding all the blood sample processing required to drive the analyte to the sensor. Together with the Embedded Systems Engineering (ESE) section, at DTU Compute, an iPhone external accessory device has been developed, offering wireless reconfigurable acquisition possibilities in an effort to interface various LoC devices in various configurations. The LoC, accessory device and the iPhone forms together a complete integrated PoC system.
The aim of this Bachelor project is to develop an iOS/Android app to illustrate the possibilities offered by this versatile platform. Focus will be put on system evolvability: you will be offered to reflect on the data model, the user-interface and basic functionalities to build to that end. You will implement your design and integrate the Bluetooth Low-Energy capabilities required for interfacing it with the accessory.
Prerequisites: | Knowledge of iOS or Android app development. |
