Solar Decathlon Europe 2014 is a student competition, where students from around the world compete in building the best solar powered house. Team DTU has qualilfied for the finals that will be held in Versailles (Paris, France) in June/July 2014, where the house designed by Team DTU will be built along side the houses built by the teams from the other universities. DTU Compute is responsible for the development of an intelligent building control system that must be integrated into the building in Paris.

One of the goals for the houses in this years competition is "Embracing the Community", meaning that the people living in these kinds of houses will need a way of establishing communities and sharing with others in an efficient and convenient matter. The houses in this years competition must work in an urban context, so inhabitants will be close to their neighbours and we wish to include technology that will help them form a community.

Some of the activities that residents of the house may want to do with the community:

• Share vegetables from their garden and other resources
• Arrange communal eating and events together
• Keep track of energy usage and how it compares to the rest of the community
• Ask for help/assistance e.g. babysitting, pet-care etc.
• And whatever YOU might think has potential
