PhD and postdoc positions, spatial and computational statistics in environmental and biological sciences, statistics sections at IMM
-
The Informatics and Mathematical Modeling Department of
the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen funds
every year five to ten three-year PhD grants. The package includes:
a comprehensive training and working experience to become
a highly skilled statistician in research, teaching and consultancy,
a high quality research environment in a friendly and international atmosphere,
a very competitive salary
and all the pleasures of the biggest city in Scandinavia.
Several PhD subjects are currently available in the following areas: Spatial statistics, Bayesian modeling, Computational statistical methods, R packages development, Statistical genetics and molecular ecology, Environmental statistics, Statistical analysis of microarray data.
Application are considered all year around and will be evaluated in mid-october and mid-April.

For PhD as well as post-doc positions, other sources of funding can be targeted. This includes the Danish Research Council for Independent Research, the Danish Strategic Research Council, the French National Research Agency, the Carlsberg Fundation and the European program "People".
All these subjects are strongly related to a current research project in statistical genetics and computational statistical methods in collabotation with statisticians or biologists involved in methodological developments (among others J. Chadoeuf , J.M. Cornuet, E. Klein, J.M. Marin, C. Robert , F. Rousset and S. Soubeyrand ). This research project is funded in 2010-2013 by the French National Research Agency.
Interested prospective post-docs or PhD students with a strong background in statistics or other branches of applied mathematics and a genuine interest for applications in biological and/or environmental sciences should contact Gilles Guillot via e-mail several months before the planned starting date. Please attach a cv with a detailed description of courses attended as well as grades obtained in the last 2-3 years.
