Can bent reflectors produce a shaped beam?

Niels Christian Albertsen

AbstractIt is well known that curved surfaces, such as reflectors, are
very resistent to all kind of deformations, except bending. It would
therefore seem of some interest to investigate, how bending would affect
the properties of a reflector antenna, and in particular if it can be
used constructively to create a shaped beam. It is the purpose of the
communication to analyze this for a particular, rotationally symmetric
Cassegrain antenna.
