Vehicle dynamic problems have constraints, which are expressed as nonlinear algebraic and/or transcendental equations. In addition the vehicle models are non-smooth due to discontinuities of F or one or more of the partial derivatives of F of first or second order. In recent years the mathematical theory of non-smooth dynamic systems and numerical methods to handle them have developed rapidly. We demonstrate the application of these methods and compare results of calculations, where the discontinuities are considered appropriately, with calculations where they are neglected." }
