The Dynamics of non-smooth Vehicle Dynamical Systems and their numerical Treatment | Hans True
| Abstract | The classical theory of nonlinear dynamics treats systems of 'sufficiently smooth' nonlinear ordinary differential equations on the form: dx/dt = F(x,t;λ) with appropriate initial conditions. Vehicle dynamic problems have constraints, which are expressed as nonlinear algebraic and/or transcendental equations. In addition the vehicle models are non-smooth due to discontinuities of F or one or more of the partial derivatives of F of first or second order. In recent years the mathematical theory of non-smooth dynamic systems and numerical methods to handle them have developed rapidly. We demonstrate the application of these methods and compare results of calculations, where the discontinuities are considered appropriately, with calculations where they are neglected. | Type | Conference paper [Without referee] | Conference | Proceedings of 10th Miniconference on Vehicle System Dynamics, Identification and Anonalies, Budapest, Nov. 6-8, 2006 | Editors | I.
