Description:

Concurrent data structures allow concurrent execution of their operations in order to gain efficiency on parallel architectures.

In recent years, different techniques for implementing concurrent data structures have been proposed:

• Fine grained locking
• Non-blocking techniques using read-compare-modify instructions
• Software Transactional Memory (STM) frameworks.

In this project, the implementation techniques should be evaluated by implementing a selection of data structures to be implemented using different techniques and their performance compared.

As part of the project, new algorithms may be developed.

02158 Concurrent Programming and preferably 02110 Algorithms & Datastructrures 2
