Beskrivelse:

LEGO Digital Designer is a program for creating virtual LEGO models on a computer. Ideally, the program should allow the constructed virtual LEGO models to perform the same movements on the computer screen as they would be able to in real life. However, such an ability turns out to require huge amounts of processing power. Thus the movement problem needs to be simplified. This is done by trying to detect rigid substructures in LEGO models, that is, substructures consisting of LEGO bricks that cannot move relative to one another.

The proposed project concerns finding efficient algorithms for detecting such rigid substructures. The project primarily involves graph theory, algorithmics (algorithms on graphs), and programming (in e.g. Matlab or Maple). For more information, see http://www.imm.dtu.dk/~tb.
