Week plan #10
For the week 7. November - 11. November
Preparations for the week
In this week and the next we turn to the BK textbook in order
to gain some experiences on making graphical user interfaces, GUI's.
As a minimal preparation to this week study Chapter 11 of the
BK textbook to the following extent:
- Chapter 11: 11.1 - 11.4.4; pages 337-345:
The lectures
We will cover selected parts of the BK textbook, primarily
- Chapter 11, sections 11.1 - 11.5, pages 337-364.
Probably we will also take a look at the software calculator presented
in section 6.5, pages 186-188 - the project calculator-full-solution
Exercises at the PC's
It's difficult to state a selection of exercises from the textbook to
carry out because you will probably think on the GUI to be made for
the Mandatory Assignment.
But some experience is useful to get. Try from the BK
textbook Exercises 11.22 - 11.33
After the lectures
The lectures has not covered all details of pages 337-364 of the
BK textbook. Work through the missing parts and do the exercises missed
at the exercise class, refer to the section above. Feel free to add
exercises of your own choice. Maybe, perform some experiments with
relevance to the Mandatory Assignment.
After having covered inner classes and anonymous inner classes it's
time to revisit some sections of the PS textbook in order
to gain more acquaintance with classes:
- Section 9.1 Class declarations and Class Bodies
- Section 9.2 Top-Level Classes, Nested Classes, Member Classes,
and Local Classes
- Section 9.11 Nested Classes, Member Classes,
Local Classes, and Inner Classes
- Section 9.12 Anonymous Classes
- Section 10.3 Inner Objects
- Section 11.7 Object Creation Expressions
