Week plan #7

For the week   10. October - 14. October

Preparations for the week

As mentioned at the lectures of week #6 Chapter 14 of the BK textbook describes a simple software development method for smaller problems by use of a case study. The central thing is to let the solution be the result of a controlled growth.

Actually, instead of just rushing to the Mandatory Assignment you should have patience to study first Chapter 14 and do those of the exercises you feel of relevance. The working methods and principles introduced are fully applicable to be used when doing the Mandatory Assignment.

Think over whether you would generalize the aspects of having a dialogue between the program and a user interface and introduce abstract classes and/or interfaces. Because that will facilitate changes between user interfaces as e.g. a text based dialogue and a GUI.

The lectures

We will cover selected parts of the BK textbook from the last chapter:
  - Chapter 14, pages 444-464

Exercises at the PC's

The exercise session of today starts after the lecture and ends at 21:00.

The exercise sessions in this week and the coming two weeks are dedicated to your work with the first part of the mandatory assignment. Questions should mainly be addressed to the teaching assistant and to me within the exercise session hours.
