Master in Computational and Applied Mathematics
Computational Data Analysis
The processing and detailed analysis of large amounts of data has
become an integral part of daily life, and new mathematical and
statistical methods offer possibilities for more advanced modelling
of complicated technical or biological systems. Computers help us
process these data in ways we couldn't have dreamed of just a few years
ago. These advances have a short transit to applications and create
wealth for businesses. Also, they improve quality of life, say, by
offering new communication services, assisting patient care in hospitals,
and by offering new media and entertainment.
This study line meets the increasing demands for extracting the
important features from data posed by the information society.
The student will work in the interface between applications and the
world of science, computing, and mathematics, and learn how to build
and analyse mathematical models that form the basis of advanced problem
solving in research and industry, via the newest developments in
computing and data analysis.
